General information on Amino Acids
|
Amino acids as components of proteins are essential to life and muscle and therefore retain a major role. Currently, there are 22 known amino acids of the human body, each of which deals with specific body functions. 8 types of amino acids are vital (essential), while the rest can be synthesized by body itself.
Amino Acids in supplements
Compared to normal protein concentrates and proteins found in meals, amino acids in supplements are already broken down. They penetrate faster and are released into the blood stream more effectively. In general, amino acids can thereby contribute in different ways:
-
The best results are found if individual amino acids are dominant in the blood stream and are not obstructed in any way. This is why amino acids should be taken on empty stomach.
-
However, if many different amino acids are taken simultaneously in a balanced composition, they serve as a building material for protein, such as proteins in muscles. Here, their effect is multiplied and often dominated by individual amino acids, with leucine dominating particularly often.
|
Athletes benefit from the targeted use of amino acids in a form, as alone it would not be possible with whole proteins. For individual functions as well as application recommendations please look at the specific categories and product descriptions.
