Facts about Vitamin K/D

Vitamin D is known as the "sun vitamin" because the body can only produce it through direct contact with sunlight. Intake through pure nutrition therefore plays a subordinate role. Yet vitamin D is one of the substances that are essential for human life.

It has been proven that vitamin D

  • promotes a normal calcium level in the blood
  • supports the maintenance of normal bones and muscle function
  • plays a role in cell division
  • ensures normal functioning of the immune system and normal teeth.

Vitamin K is also an essential component, but we usually get it from food. In combination with the administration of vitamin D, it ensures the maintenance of bones and normal blood clotting.

Why Vitamin K/D?

Studies have shown that the local population's vitamin D supply is poor.

Unfavourable longitudes and latitudes and, in this context, unfavourable sunshine with too few hours of sunlight make it difficult to obtain sufficient amounts.

In addition, too few hours in the sun due to a clothed daily routine in rooms make a full supply of vitamin D almost impossible, even in sunny months.

Since only small amounts of vitamin D can be obtained from certain animal foods, the use of a supplement such as vitamin K/D is a perfect way to close gaps in supply.

Vitamin D3 and vitamin K2 work hand in hand and are present in this product in a highly bioavailable form as vitamin D3 and vitamin K2 (MK-7) respectively.

Capabilities of vitamin K/D

It is now known that there are almost 50 types of tissue in the human body that have a receptor for vitamin D. If a receptor is present, the body will be able to absorb it. If a receptor is present, this means that vitamin D mediates certain effects on all these tissues in its form as the prohormone "25-D".

This fact leads to the fact that a sufficient supply of vitamin D can now be proven to have several positive effects on the human body. It not only contributes to the maintenance of normal calcium levels, normal bones and normal muscle function, but also promotes the functionality of the immune system, supports the maintenance of healthy teeth and assumes an independent function in cell division.

In addition to vitamin D, vitamin K also plays an important role in bone metabolism.

Where vitamin K is lacking, vitamin D is unable to distribute calcium stocks to the bones in a meaningful way. The two work together as a kind of tag team. A combined administration as with vitamin K/D appears to be extremely sensible for this reason.
