Peak Creatine (Creapure®) is a creatine monohydrate produced according to strict standards and processes of the pharmaceutical and food industries and is available to demanding athletes. Creapure® is manufactured at a facility in Germany specially built for Creapure® production, which largely eliminates the risk of cross-contamination and contamination. In addition, each product batch is checked before entering the market by means of high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and other analytical techniques. These and other measures ensure that a unique product with consistently high purity is produced.
Creatine is generally regarded as an important performance substrate in sports nutrition. The human skeletal muscles contain around 90% of the body's own creatine reserves. While all living cells depend on energy, this is especially true for muscle cells. Intensive muscle activity, e.g. during strength training, requires large amounts of energy. The way in which the human body provides energy depends largely on the type of load. During anaerobic efforts (short, intensive exertion: e.g. sprints or explosive strength training) the muscle cells are dependent on immediately available energy sources. Adenosine triphosphate (ATP) and phosphocreatine (PCr) are energy carriers that complement each other perfectly and provide immediate initial energy before further energy becomes available at a later point in time through the breakdown of glucose (glycolysis), glycogen (glycogenolysis) and fat (lipolysis). However, since the ATP supply in muscle cells is exhausted relatively quickly, the resynthesis of ATP plays a crucial role in enabling further muscle activity. Creatine in the form of PCr supports the energy transport within the muscle cells before the intensively working muscle runs out of ATP. This enables the muscle to continue to perform. This happens until the supply of PCr comes to an end.
