Short description of Vitamin D
Vitamin D is a vital substance that plays the role of a prohormone. Vitamin D is usually synthesized by exposing the skin to the sun. Particularly in the winter months, sun exposure may not be sufficient to ensure an optimal vitamin D status.

Vitamin D (cholecalciferol) is not actually a vitamin, but rather a prohormone that can be synthesized by the body from sunlight itself.
